ORIGINAL CLASSROOM READING WALL
The Classroom Reading Wall Vocabulary Program is an immensely effective for
insuring steady grade level reading progress.
If you have a class of 7 - 30 students, this is a highly efficient way to teach the
Grade 1 Reading Vocabulary words. Place the new list in front of the class
when introducing the week's new words and follow the directions outlined at the top of
each list. Vowel sounds have been color coded and letters are big enough to be seen
over 30 feet across the room. Its inherent design automatically teaches phonemic
awareness - proper decoding skills - and essential reading vocabulary. These columns
are presented in the same order as in our Grade 1 Reading Vocabulary List and Vocabulary
Building Worksheets. NOTE: We will be updating the new Classroom
Reading Wall program with our newly organized Grade 1 Vocabulary by March
21st.

ORIGINAL STUDENT READING WALL LISTS
Most important Grade 1 File
The Student Reading Wall Program is an extremely high efficiency reading
improvement program for students of any age. Student's typically make
4-7 times greater progress in the same amount of time as compared to any
other reading program (including commercial programs such as Hooked on
Phonics - or school based programs such as Accelerated Reader and Reading
Recovery).
Parents or Tutors should line as many columns as you have room for
along a living room wall or hallway to organize and motivate the child's
instruction. When using the "Fluency Time Card" below (which records the number of
seconds it takes for a student to say the column words) get ready to see a level of
enthusiasm you haven't seen previously. Make sure you completely learn the strategy
called "Stop at the Vowel Sound." It is described in detail and is
a very powerful technique. Click the Reading Wall Video link at left to view
TampaRead's Developer, Richard Pressinger, using the Stop at the Vowel Sound technique
with an advanced 5 year old student. You must have RealPlayer installed on your
computer to view the video. If you do not have RealPlayer installed (if you click the link
and the video doesn't start) then you can go to www.real.com
to download their latest RealPlayer. Look for their "free" version
(usually linked from the bottom of the page). If you are accessing this index from
our Total Reading Package CD you can easily install the PC version of RealPlayer by going
to the "Viewers" folder (seen after opening the CD) and then open the RealPlay
folder. |
